Psychological Immigration Evaluations
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 8 years specializing in immigration evaluations, I provide comprehensive forensic assessments for asylum, VAWA, hardship waivers, and U/T-visa cases. I work closely with immigration attorneys to document the psychological impact of trauma, domestic violence, persecution, and family separation in ways that strengthen your legal case.
My evaluations are conducted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Galician, and I'm licensed to serve clients in New Jersey, Florida, Texas, and South Carolina via telehealth or in-person at my Newark office.
What Immigration Evaluations Assess
In my 8 years conducting these evaluations, I've learned that effective immigration assessments require more than clinical interviews. They need to address what USCIS adjudicators actually look for and how mental health connects to legal criteria. I assess:
- Trauma Documentation: Using PCL-5 and clinical interviews to establish PTSD criteria aligned with DSM-5 standards
- Hardship Analysis: Documenting psychological, medical, educational, and financial hardship for I-601 waivers
- Domestic Violence Impact: Comprehensive VAWA assessments documenting abuse patterns and psychological consequences
- Credibility Assessment: Detailed documentation that supports asylum claims through trauma-informed interviewing
My Evaluation Process
Evaluations typically take 2-3 hours and include:
- Clinical Interview: Comprehensive assessment of mental health history, trauma exposure, and current functioning
- Psychometric Testing: Validated instruments (when clinically indicated) to document PTSD, depression, or anxiety symptoms
- Collateral Review: Analysis of legal documents, medical records, and supporting materials provided by your attorney
- Report Preparation: Comprehensive evaluation report formatted for USCIS submission. Unlike the brief template reports some providers offer, mine include detailed clinical findings, diagnostic justification, legal criteria analysis, and supporting documentation. Multiple turnaround options available: 15 days (standard), 10 days, 5 days, 2 days, or 24-hour emergency for urgent deadlines
Telehealth vs. In-Person Evaluations
I offer both telehealth and in-person evaluations. Telehealth sessions via secure video allow clients throughout New Jersey, Florida, Texas, and South Carolina to access services without travel. In-person evaluations at my Newark office are available for clients who prefer face-to-face assessment.
I've completed hundreds of telehealth evaluations with positive case outcomes. Research supports what I've seen in practice: video evaluations are just as effective as in-person sessions for immigration assessments.
Case Types I Specialize In
- Asylum: Documenting persecution-related trauma and mental health consequences
- VAWA (Violence Against Women Act): Comprehensive domestic violence impact assessments
- I-601/I-601A Hardship Waivers: Extreme hardship evaluations for qualifying relatives
- U-Visas: Crime victim psychological assessments
- T-Visas: Human trafficking survivor evaluations
- Cancellation of Removal: Hardship and family impact documentation
For Immigration Attorneys
I understand attorney deadlines and court schedules. I offer five turnaround tiers to accommodate any timeline: 15 days (standard), 10 days, 5 days, 2 days, or 24-hour emergency for last-minute court deadlines. I provide:
- Reports that connect clinical findings directly to the legal elements your case needs. For hardship waivers, I document how psychological conditions create extreme hardship. For asylum, I show how trauma establishes credible fear. For VAWA, I detail the psychological impact of abuse patterns.
- DSM-5 diagnostic clarity with supporting test data when clinically appropriate
- Availability for testimony or case consultation when needed
- Secure communication via attorney portals
